Introducing Vivace: Not Your Regular Micro-needling

Cynosure Skin Revitalization

If you are seeking to target and improve the appearance of acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles and revitalise your overall skin texture for a flawless and radiant complexion, the answer is microneedling.

Microneedling is not a new facial treatment (its origins can be traced back as far as 1905) and is recognised and well established within the aesthetics industry as being incredibly beneficial in regenerating the skin by boosting collagen production and cell renewal. However, for many who are contemplating microneedling treatments the thought of having several needles penetrate your skin might sound quite painful, invasive, damaging or even traumatic to the skin. A number of patients who have experienced microneedling for themselves may even describe the treatment as being uncomfortable and resulting in bleeding, redness, irritation, swelling and scabbing post-treatment – thus creating the conception that all microneedling treatments can be painful and require a large amount of downtime post-treatment.

The next generation of microneedling techniques that is at the forefront of technological advancements to combat these concerns is Vivace. The Vivace difference to traditional microneedling is the combination of microneedling technology, LED therapy and radiofrequency. The Vivace system has been designed for the improvement of fine lines and wrinkles with minimal discomfort and no downtime required, as opposed to needling rollers and pens that can lead to tearing of the skin, pain, bleeding and inconsistent results.

Vivace sets the standard for microneedling and skin regeneration as it harnesses these 3 technologies to engage the natural skin healing process to increase collagen and elastin for tighter, younger looking skin. As well as improving texture and firmness of the skin, Vivace is also used for reduction in acne scars, wrinkles pore size and stretch marks.

The Vivace device uses 36 gold-plated microneedles to create microscopic, smooth and even insertions into the skin. This process works to stimulate the production of new collagen and offer one of the most comfortable microneedling treatment experiences. Additionally, Radiofrequency works to deliver focussed thermal heat to the skin that works to stimulate wound healing and skin renewal and provide a further skin tightening and lifting effect in one single comfortable treatment.

At the same time red or blue LED light is emitted into the dermal layers. Red light is inflammatory and is used to improve healing, skin rejuvenation and acne scarring. Blue light on the other hand is anti-bacterial and will kill off active bacteria and improve active acne.

This combination of LED Light Therapy with microneedling and radiofrequency, is what makes Vivace incredibly unique and the ultimate 3-in-1 treatment according to Dr Varun Sharma of Skin Rejuvenate Cosmetic Clinic, “When you combine the microneedling with radiofrequency, which is what the Vivace does, you have 36 needles that all go in at once, and at the tip of the needle, we release radiofrequency.

This thermal energy blocks the blood vessels and stops bleeding, allowing the needles to go as far as 3.5mm deep with little or no bleeding… You can also choose to use the red or blue light LED light therapy in addition to microneedling and radiofrequency.”

Dr Sharma further explains that this depth for the needle is what also sets Vivace apart from traditional microneedling devices, “Microneedling by itself usually goes up to a depth of about 2.5ml in the hands of a doctor or a nurse, and normally that’s a depth where there’s a lot of blood vessels and a lot of downtime, with the patient leaving the room with a lot of blood.” The greater the depth the needle can go, the better results than can be seen from the treatment.

Vivace is FDA cleared and TGA listed, with treatments lasting approximately 45 minutes, with an additional 30 mins required for pre-treatment numbing. Whilst results can be seen post treatment, improvement in the appearance of wrinkles, skin tone and texture will continue for the next three months as the process of collagen regeneration increases over time.

The precision of the device ensures clean and open channels in the skin that remain open for four to six hours. These channels provide the opportunity for the application of growth factor and peptide serums, which works to optimise and accelerate recovery and healing.
