With our laser hair removal treatments, you can quickly and easily reduce unwanted hair on your body or face. Since the treatments produce long-lasting results, you won’t need to worry about hair removal for a very long time, if ever again.
The secret to effectively removing unwanted hair lies in the technology. Cynosure’s laser hair removal treatments target and destroy the hair follicles without damaging the surrounding skin. The result is smooth, hair-free skin that lasts.
During your treatment, you will receive protective eyewear before a handpiece is applied to the treatment area. The laser energy is absorbed by the hair follicles, which ultimately destroys them. Once the hair follicle is permanently damaged, it’s unable to regrow.
Treatments are non-invasive, which means no downtime is required. Several treatments will be required to achieve the desired outcome though. Your practitioner can give you a better indication of how many treatments you will require during your consultation.
The areas that are most commonly treated with Cynosure’s laser solutions include the face, underarms, arms, legs, back, bikini, chest, and more.
Treatments are comfortable and will vary from patient to patient. Patients describe a range of sensations during treatment, from tingling to the snapping of a rubber band. Overall, laser hair removal treatments are more than tolerable. If discomfort is a major concern for you, a topical numbing cream can be applied prior to treatment.
Treatments can take from just 5-60 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. If you will be treating multiple areas, treatment time will increase.
A series of three to six treatments is recommended for optimal results. However, every patient is different. Your provider will assist you with a custom treatment plan once your needs are evaluated during your consultation.
The natural hair growth cycle takes place in three stages. All the hair on your head isn’t always in the same stage of growth. This means that when an area is treated, not all hair follicles will respond to treatment. It’s for this reason that multiple treatments are required to remove hair across the entire area. Your provider will tell you more about the treatment intervals you will require for optimum results.
Laser hair removal treatments are safe for all skin types, including light and dark skin and most hair colours. However, a consultation will be required prior to treatment. Your medical history will need to be reviewed, as will any supplements and medications that you’re currently taking. From there, your provider can determine whether you’re an ideal candidate.
You can expect to see a gradual decrease in hair thickness and in the amount of hair that’s present. In addition, you may also see a decrease in stubble, rashes and ingrown hairs. Patients should be prepared for the fact that results develop gradually. On the plus side, results are permanent.
This mainly depends on your goals and the areas you want to treat. You may not be able to apply two different treatments, including laser hair removal, to the same area. If you have other requirements, these should be discussed during your consultation.
Before your laser hair removal session, the area should be shaved no sooner than 24 hours prior. Waxing, tweezing and any other treatments that pull the hair out at the root should be avoided. Direct sun exposure and UV tanning beds should be avoided for at least two weeks before your appointment. Sunburned skin cannot undergo laser treatments. Your provider will also notify you to stop using any topical products that could cause photosensitivity. This only needs to be done for about three days before your session. Your provider will give you a list of any medications that need to be avoided too. Lastly, any cosmetic treatments, including peels, microdermabrasion and cosmetic injections, should be avoided for at least two weeks before any laser hair removal session.
